MOPS Meeting: Dec. 12, 2011

We had a fantastic Christmas MOPS meeting! Everyone looked great in their festive holiday sweaters! Congrats to Nikki Lytle, Amanda Tompkins and Savannah Porter for being picked from their tables with the worst sweaters, and congrats to Michele Travis for winning the ugliest sweater contest! Your sweater was the worst of all :)

Thank you Pastor Harms for speaking on Keeping Jesus in Christmas. Here is the outline:
1. Bake a birthday cake for Jesus (Dont' forget the candles)
2. Read the Christmas Story (Luke 2:1-20) before opening presents
3. Collect the pieces of a nativity scene for display in your home
4. Attend a Christmas Eve Service
5. Give a gift to someone in need (Giving to someone in need is giving to Jesus, Matthew 25:1)
6. Sing/play Bible based Christmas songs in your home (Away in a Manger; Joy to the World; Silent Night, Holy Night)
7. Buy a manger scene ornament each year
8. When it's time to give the "Santa Talk"...talk about God's gift of Jesus

Thank you everyone for bring lots of delicious "Christmas favorite" dishes and drinks! We had a blast with the gift exchange and the "Name the Christmas Carol" game!

Thank you Anna Marie for all your hard work with our Antiquities fundraiser! We raised around $1,300 for our group! Awesome!

Don't forget to sign up for MOPS Spring Registration. It's $20.

Our MOPS Unplugged event is this Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 pm at Meaghan Damron's house. We will be making Christmas Card Holder Weaths. Bring some cookies to share, 14 clothes pins and a large embroidery hoop. Also please bring a hot glue gun if you have one. Hot cocoa and wrapping paper will be provided. Please respond to the Evite, and hope to see you there!

Our MOPS playdate will be at Country Club Park at 9:30 am on Monday, December 19th. Come let the kids run around and have fun!

MOPS Meeting November 28th, 2011

We had another enjoyable meeting! Thank you Savannah Porter for the wonderful Sugar Scrub craft! It was a lot of fun!

Here are the announcements:
  • On Tuesday, December 6th at 3:00 pm our crafty playdate will be doing the Paint Your Own Ceramics at the Fort Huachuca Arts and Crafts Center! Our set time will be at 3 pm, but you can go in anytime between 12-5 pm.   • We will have another playdate at Country Club Park at 9:30 am on Monday, December 19th. Come let the kids run around and have fun!
  • For MOPS Unplugged we will get together and make Christmas Card Holder Wreaths! The date is Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 pm at Meaghan's House.   • You are invited to attend First Baptist Church's Sharing Christmas Love Brunch this Saturday, December 3rd at 9:00 am. Please let the church know if you are attending so that care at the nursery can be provided. The ladies will be making care packages for college students and stockings for shut ins. If you'd like to donate postage for the care packages it would be greatly appreciated. :)
  • MOPS Spring Registration is now available. The cost is $20.
  • Caycee Bonbright recently had a baby! If you'd like to help out with making a meal for her please sign up on our facebook page at SV First Baptist MOPS under a post from Anna Marie. Thanks for your support!
  • TMCC MOPS group is hosting a Christmas simulcast this weekend. Please call or email Dawn at TMCC (info below) to reserve your spot! They just want to make sure they are prepared for however many people they have coming!
Here are the details:
1.“Why do we call it Christmas” from Phil Vischer who is the maker of Veggie Tales, Jelly Telly, and What’s in the Bible for kids.
2.The times it will be shown is Saturday, December 3rd, at 9:30am and Sunday, December 4th at 6pm at TMCC.
3.You choose which day to come (it’s the same showing, so don’t come both days, unless you really like it and want to buy another ticket! J ).
4.Tickets are $5.00 each and kids age 2 and under are free!
5.The simulcast is an hour and a half long, and there will be snacks.

7.Please pass this along to your moms, as this is not an exclusive TMCC MOPs event! We want everyone to know about it!

  • Our Holiday MOPS meeting is on Dec. 12th- the last meeting of the year!
    • Everyone, bring your favorite Christmas dish for a potluck brunch. Please bring your recipe with it for exchange.
    • We will also have a $5 gift exchange (it doesn't have to be an ornament)
    • Wear your ugliest holiday sweater! We will have a Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. We will have all the tables vote for their ugliest, and then everyone votes from those 5 for a winner!
    • Pastor Harms will be speaking at our meeting.

MOPS Meeting Nov. 14th, 2011

Chaplain Robinson spoke to us on the topic Becoming a Husband-Wife Team. The talk was full of wisdom and insight! Thank you Anna Marie for leading the meeting. Great job!

Here are the announcements:
1. Antiquities is this Thursday, November 17 and Friday, Nov. 18th. Thank you everyone who participated in selling tickets! Special thanks to Anna Marie for coordinating everything.

2. MOPS is taking donations of boxes of full sized Candy Canes for the Women's Ministry Sharing God's Love brunch. Bring them to the next meeting if you'd like to donate. The brunch will be on Dec. 3rd at 9-11 am at First Baptist Church. Thanks!

3. Special thanks to all the ladies who signed up to help make dinners for Hannah. Please keep her and Jessica in your prayers.
4. Our next MOPS Unplugged will be a Pizza and Game night on Nov. 16th at 6-8 pm at Helen Lai's House.  Hope you can make it! It'll be fun.
5. Our next playdate is Splashtime at the Cove at 10:00 am on Nov. 22nd. Come join us! The kids will love playing with water.

MOPS Meeting: Sept. 26th

We had an amazing guest speaker today, Mr. Ramirez. He is a nurse in the ER and he spoke to us about so many first aide and medical topics. So informative! We also had another guest who taught us what to do if our child is choking as well as a CPR demonstation. We are so thankful for both speakers!

Thank you Stephanie for the fun "what's in your purse?" game and Anna Marie for the Antiquities packets. We will start selling tickets for $10. Pictures will be taken Nov. 17, 18, and 19th.The buyer will receive a beautiful professionally photographed 10 X 13 sepia-tone studio portrait of his/her child/children. There will be no additional sitting fees. Antiquites provides props and clothing. This offer is limited to one coupon per family.

There will be fun acitivites for kids: children's petting zoo, hay rides, train rides, pumpkin patch, and garden fresh produce!

MOPS Meeting Sept. 12th

We had another FUN meeting! Thank you Kay for your inspiring devotional! We had a great time making adorable boo boo bunnies, and playing a hilarious (and competitive) group game :)  Check out the cute pictures! Thank you Chutes and Ladders Cuties for a delicious breakfast!

Our MOPS Unplugged event this week is a Progressive Dinner! It will be this Saturday, Sept. 17 at 6-9 pm. We will be meeting in the Target parking lot. Please look for and respond to the evite that has been sent out. It'll be a wonderful time!

Next Thursday, September 22, we will have a MOPS playdate at Chaparral Village Park at 9:00 am. The address is 5470 Montecito Street. There is a nice shaded playground, grass play area, picnic area and ramadas. Hope your little ones can come and play!

Our Consignment Sale is coming up soon! Set up is Friday, Sept 30 from 4-8 pm. The sale will take place on Saturday Oct. 1st from 7 am- 1pm. Please have everything you are selling tagged with your ID# and price. We would also love to get more sellers. Please feel free to invite friends to sell- they will need to contact Anna Marie ASAP to get ID #s and tags.

Antiquities photo sessions will take place the weekend before Thanksgiving on November 17, 18, and 19th. Our goal is for every MOPS member sell 10 tickets. It is $10 per ticket. A ticket allows the purchaser to get a professional 8 X 10 photograph of his/her child all dressed up! More info to come.

MOPS Meeting: August 29, 2011

During our meeting this Monday, we had a great time decorating MOPS mugs and mingling with a get-to-know-you game. Thank you Shannon for organizing all the fun activities! We also appreciate Christina for the encouraging devotion this morning. Also, thank you Candy Land Chicks for the yummy breakfast!

Our upcoming playdate will be at the Cove for Splash Time on Thursday, September 8th at 9-11 am. Bring your kiddos for some water fun!

Our MOPS Unplugged event will be a Progressive Dinner on Saturday, September 17th from 6-9 pm! We will meet at 6:00 in the Target parking lot. We will then enjoy appetizers at Jen's house, a main course at Amanda's house, and dessert and coffee at Stephanie's house. Please sign up during the meeting to contribute to the progressive dinner. It will be a great time of fellowship, bonding, and lots of delicious food!

Ready to clean out those closets, make some extra cash, and help support our MOPS group? Our Consignment Sale is on Saturday, October 1st at 7-1 pm! Set up will be the day before on Sept. 30 from 4-8 pm. When you drop off your items on Friday, please have all clothes on hangers and all items must be tagged with prices and ID numbers. All items will be donated at the end of the sale on Saturday unless you pick it up by 1 pm. Please sign up to volunteer during set up and during the sale. We greatly appreciate your support and participation! We will have hangers that you may take at our next MOPS meeting.

Sierra Vista First Baptist MOPS FALL 2011 Consignment Sale General Information
1. Registration is Friday, Sept. 30th from 4 PM to 8 PM. All items for sale must be present by end of registration
2. Consignment sale is Saturday, October 1st from 7:00 AM to 1 PM
3.Volunteers will be MOPS Moms and will work 2-hour shifts
4. Volunteers may enjoy early shopping on Friday from 4 PM to 8 PM for the first choice of items
5. All unsold items must be picked up from the church by 1:00 PM on Saturday, Oct. 1st; any items not picked up by this time will be donated to charity.
6. If you want items returned to you, you MUST call prior to 1 PM on Saturday, Oct. 1st to see if you have any items that need picking up. Phone number will be supplied when items are dropped off
7. We prefer that only children 12 months and younger are allowed with workers during their shift; this is for your children's safety as large pieces of furniture will be moved around! 
8. Proceeds from consignment sale items are to be split 60% seller and 40% MOPS; sellers have the option of donating ALL (or any other % above 40%) proceeds to MOPS. After 11:30 AM on day of sale, all items will sell for 50% off unless otherwise indicated by consignor. Please mark items with a RED "X" if you do not want them sold for 50% off!
9. All items will be tagged by the consignor
10. Proceeds from sale will be distributed at the next MOPS meeting. If the seller is not at the meeting, checks will be mailed to the address on your Consignment Sale Rules form.
11. All items will be priced in increments of $0.25 (i.e. $0.75 or 3 for $1.00).
12. Sale items must use provided tags, safety pinned to items. All clothing must be on hangers. Improperly tagged items will not be sold and will be donated to charity
13. Sold items can be held but must be paid for and picked up by 1 PM
14. For best results and the most sales, use the suggested pricing below:

MOPS FALL 2011 Consignment Sale Rules
1. Items for sale must be clean and in good working order. Clothing must not be torn, stained, or missing buttons. If items are not in good condition they will be refused.
2. All items will be priced in increments of $0.25 (i.e. $0.75 or 3 for $1.00)
3. Consigners must use provided tags and attach to items with safety pins.
4. Consigners must supply hangers with their clothing. Consigners will receive 5 hangers upon signup.
5. Onesies and socks should be sold in sets of 3-4
6. Acceptable items for sale (not an all inclusive list): Fall & Winter ONLY
a. Kids clothing sizes newborn to 12 years
b. Maternity clothes
  c. Strollers- without attached carseat
d. Baby bathtubs
e. Portable cribs, and bassinets
f. Exersaucers, bouncy seats, swings, playmats
g. Toys
h. Outdoor play equipment
i. Videos, books
7. Items NOT accepted for sale:
a. Carseats
b. Bottles/nipples
c. Sippy cups
d. Shoes, slippers, and all other footwear
e. Cribs (other than pack-n-play type)
8. All sales are final- no refunds, returns, or exchanges
9. MOPS is not responsible for lost or damaged items
10. If seller wants items returned, they must call by 1 PM to see if items still remain and items must be picked up by 1 PM or else they will be donated.
11. TAGS must be marked with a RED X if you do not want them to be sold at half price toward the end of the sale
12. TAGS must be marked with a D behind the sellers ID# if you want them to be donated after the sale.

MOPS Awareness Sunday

MOPS Awareness Sunday went extremely well! We were able to share about our group with our sponsoring church, SV First Baptist. During the luncheon we received $456.37 in donations! A great big THANK YOU to all the volunteers who contributed their time and efforts!

First MOPS Meeting: Upcoming Events

We had a fantastic first MOPS meeting! It was wonderful to see all the familiar faces as well as meet new ladies! Thank you Kay for leading us in a thoughtful and encouraging discussion on mothering strategies. Lots of great ideas! Thank you Dawn for sharing a devotion and thanks steering team for a yummy breakfast!

This Sunday, August 21st will be our MOPS Awareness Sunday luncheon at First Baptist Church. We will be sharing about this ministry during the 9:00 and 10:30 service, and then serve an Italian feast at noon until 1 pm. We will be serving lasagna, and Olive Garden donated salad and breadsticks. Yay! Set up starts at 11:45 am. Please come help and support our first fundraiser everyone :)

Our playdate next week will be on Monday, August 22nd at 10 am at Country Club Park. The park has two playground structures and lots of shade. Hope to see you there! Also, our MOPS Unplugged activity this month will be going to a movie matinee on Saturday, August 27th. More details to come!

If you'd like to order a MOPS purple polo shirt with embroidered turquoise MOPS logo, please be ready to sign up for one and bring $20 to prepay for them at the next MOPS meeting. We need to place an order for them before Sept. 1st. Thanks!

Mark your calendars! Our Consignment Sale will be on October 1st at 7am-2 pm. Set up will be the day before (Sept. 30) from 4 - 8 pm. The other 2 MOPS groups in town will also be joining us for this big event. Start saving your baby and children's items!

MOPS Kick-Off Meeting

Our MOPS group starts back up on Monday, August 15th at 9 am! Our theme this year is MomSense: Bold, Loving, Sensible. Our table groups will be grouped according to fun board games such as Candyland and Chutes and Ladders. Breakfast will be provided by the steering team, so come hungry! We will have a great time of getting to know one another. Looking forward to seeing everyone as we kick off our new year!

End of the Year Picnic




The end of the year picnic at the Country Club Park last Saturday was great fun! It was so nice to have a chance to meet all the MOPS families. The children had a blast playing together, and the food was delicious! Special thanks to Stacy Fesser for organizing the event. Everything went so well! What a wonderful way to end a successful first year!
