MOPS Spring Kick-Off Meeting: Jan. 9, 2012

Welcome back everyone! We are so excited to start the new semester of MOPS! We had a wonderful first meeting of the year. Special thanks to our guest speaker, Victoria Robinson, who gave a inspirational talk about Joyful Parenting. Also, thank you Renee Graham for giving the devotion about MomSense today!

A few announcements:
1. Our Spring Consignment Sale is tentatively set for the first weekend in March. More info to come.
2. Feel free to put your name in the mug to have coffee with a Mentor Mom! You may request to talk with a specific mentor mom, or any one of them. The mentor mom will buy you coffee, bring your kids, and talk with you.
3. This Wednesday First Baptist Church starts bible studies at 9 am and 6 pm. Child care is available.
4. If you have a prayer request you may email Amanda Tompkins as she is our Prayer Coordinator.
5. Please remember MOPS Spring Registration is $20 for returning members. For new members there is also an additional $23 MOPS International registration fee.
6. Our dear coordinator Stephanie Page will be moving to Texas. Thank you Stephanie for all that you've done for our group! You have been an amazing leader. We will miss you and we will be praying for you and your family. Renee Graham will be our new coordinator.
7. Our group needs a MOPPETS coordinator and a speaker coordinator. If you are interested in filling either of these positions please speak with a steering team member.

8. MOPS Playdates:
Tuesday, January 17th: Storytime at the Sierra Vista Library at 11:00 am.
Friday, January 27th: MOPS Unplugged st the Olive Garden at 6:00 pm. Evites will be sent out.
Friday, February 3rd: Open Gym at Desert Thunder Gymnastics located at 7557 E. Thuma Rd. Open gym is at 11:00-12:15 and the cost is $8 per child.

MOPS Meeting: Dec. 12, 2011

Christmas Party Group Picture
We had a fantastic Christmas MOPS meeting! Everyone looked great in their festive holiday sweaters! Congrats to Nikki Lytle, Amanda Tompkins and Savannah Porter for being picked from their tables with the worst sweaters, and congrats to Michele Travis for winning the ugliest sweater contest! Your sweater was the worst of all :)

Thank you Pastor Harms for speaking on Keeping Jesus in Christmas. Here is the outline:
1. Bake a birthday cake for Jesus (Dont' forget the candles)
2. Read the Christmas Story (Luke 2:1-20) before opening presents
3. Collect the pieces of a nativity scene for display in your home
4. Attend a Christmas Eve Service
5. Give a gift to someone in need (Giving to someone in need is giving to Jesus, Matthew 25:1)
6. Sing/play Bible based Christmas songs in your home (Away in a Manger; Joy to the World; Silent Night, Holy Night)
7. Buy a manger scene ornament each year
8. When it's time to give the "Santa Talk"...talk about God's gift of Jesus

Thank you everyone for bring lots of delicious "Christmas favorite" dishes and drinks! We had a blast with the gift exchange and the "Name the Christmas Carol" game!

Thank you Anna Marie for all your hard work with our Antiquities fundraiser! We raised around $1,300 for our group! Awesome!

Don't forget to sign up for MOPS Spring Registration. It's $20.

Our MOPS Unplugged event is this Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 pm at Meaghan Damron's house. We will be making Christmas Card Holder Weaths. Bring some cookies to share, 14 clothes pins and a large embroidery hoop. Also please bring a hot glue gun if you have one. Hot cocoa and wrapping paper will be provided. Please respond to the Evite, and hope to see you there!

Our MOPS playdate will be at Country Club Park at 9:30 am on Monday, December 19th. Come let the kids run around and have fun!

MOPS Meeting November 28th, 2011

We had another enjoyable meeting! Thank you Savannah Porter for the wonderful Sugar Scrub craft! It was a lot of fun!

Here are the announcements:
  • On Tuesday, December 6th at 3:00 pm our crafty playdate will be doing the Paint Your Own Ceramics at the Fort Huachuca Arts and Crafts Center! Our set time will be at 3 pm, but you can go in anytime between 12-5 pm.   • We will have another playdate at Country Club Park at 9:30 am on Monday, December 19th. Come let the kids run around and have fun!
  • For MOPS Unplugged we will get together and make Christmas Card Holder Wreaths! The date is Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 pm at Meaghan's House. Please bring a hot glue gun if you have one and some designed wrapping paper. Hot cocoa will be provided, and bring some cookies to share! Evites will be sent out soon!
  • You are invited to attend First Baptist Church's Sharing Christmas Love Brunch this Saturday, December 3rd at 9:00 am. Please let the church know if you are attending so that care at the nursery can be provided. The ladies will be making care packages for college students and stockings for shut ins. If you'd like to donate postage for the care packages it would be greatly appreciated. :)
  • MOPS Spring Registration is now available. The cost is $20.
  • Caycee Bonbright recently had a baby! If you'd like to help out with making a meal for her please sign up on our facebook page at SV First Baptist MOPS under a post from Anna Marie. Thanks for your support!
  • TMCC MOPS group is hosting a Christmas simulcast this weekend. Please call or email Dawn at TMCC (info below) to reserve your spot! They just want to make sure they are prepared for however many people they have coming!
Here are the details:
1.“Why do we call it Christmas” from Phil Vischer who is the maker of Veggie Tales, Jelly Telly, and What’s in the Bible for kids.
2.The times it will be shown is Saturday, December 3rd, at 9:30am and Sunday, December 4th at 6pm at TMCC.
3.You choose which day to come (it’s the same showing, so don’t come both days, unless you really like it and want to buy another ticket! J ).
4.Tickets are $5.00 each and kids age 2 and under are free!
5.The simulcast is an hour and a half long, and there will be snacks.

7.Please pass this along to your moms, as this is not an exclusive TMCC MOPs event! We want everyone to know about it!

  • Our Holiday MOPS meeting is on Dec. 12th- the last meeting of the year!
    • Everyone, bring your favorite Christmas dish for a potluck brunch. Please bring your recipe with it for exchange.
    • We will also have a $5 gift exchange (it doesn't have to be an ornament)
    • Wear your ugliest holiday sweater! We will have a Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. We will have all the tables vote for their ugliest, and then everyone votes from those 5 for a winner!
    • Pastor Harms will be speaking at our meeting.

MOPS Meeting Nov. 14th, 2011

Chaplain Robinson spoke to us on the topic Becoming a Husband-Wife Team. The talk was full of wisdom and insight! Thank you Anna Marie for leading the meeting. Great job!

Here are the announcements:
1. Antiquities is this Thursday, November 17 and Friday, Nov. 18th. Thank you everyone who participated in selling tickets! Special thanks to Anna Marie for coordinating everything.

2. MOPS is taking donations of boxes of full sized Candy Canes for the Women's Ministry Sharing God's Love brunch. Bring them to the next meeting if you'd like to donate. The brunch will be on Dec. 3rd at 9-11 am at First Baptist Church. Thanks!

3. Special thanks to all the ladies who signed up to help make dinners for Hannah. Please keep her and Jessica in your prayers.
4. Our next MOPS Unplugged will be a Pizza and Game night on Nov. 16th at 6-8 pm at Helen Lai's House.  Hope you can make it! It'll be fun.
5. Our next playdate is Splashtime at the Cove at 10:00 am on Nov. 22nd. Come join us! The kids will love playing with water.

Our Consignment Sale was a huge success! Our MOPS group made $722! Thanks to everyone who sold and volunteered during the sale, and special thanks to Anna Marie for organizing the event.

MOPS Meeting: Sept. 26th

We had an amazing guest speaker today, Mr. Ramirez. He is a nurse in the ER and he spoke to us about so many first aide and medical topics. So informative! We also had another guest who taught us what to do if our child is choking as well as a CPR demonstation. We are so thankful for both speakers!

Thank you Stephanie for the fun "what's in your purse?" game and Anna Marie for the Antiquities packets. We will start selling tickets for $10. Pictures will be taken Nov. 17, 18, and 19th.The buyer will receive a beautiful professionally photographed 10 X 13 sepia-tone studio portrait of his/her child/children. There will be no additional sitting fees. Antiquites provides props and clothing. This offer is limited to one coupon per family.
Thanks Life Ladies for a great breakfast!

Here are the upcoming playdates for the month of October. Hope you can join us!
* October 3rd at 9:00 AM: Veteran's Memorial Park - play area on the sand in front of the Cove
* October 10th at 9:00 AM: Country Club Park located at 2400 Cherry Hills Dr.
* October 28th at 9:30 AM: Dad's Farm in Whetstone. It is located at Hwy. 90 and Ivey Road (1 mile north of Mustang Corners) Huachuca City, AZ 85616
There will be fun acitivites for kids: children's petting zoo, hay rides, train rides, pumpkin patch, and garden fresh produce!

MOPS Meeting Sept. 12th

We had another FUN meeting! Thank you Kay for your inspiring devotional! We had a great time making adorable boo boo bunnies, and playing a hilarious (and competitive) group game :)  Check out the cute pictures! Thank you Chutes and Ladders Cuties for a delicious breakfast!

Our MOPS Unplugged event this week is a Progressive Dinner! It will be this Saturday, Sept. 17 at 6-9 pm. We will be meeting in the Target parking lot. Please look for and respond to the evite that has been sent out. It'll be a wonderful time!

Next Thursday, September 22, we will have a MOPS playdate at Chaparral Village Park at 9:00 am. The address is 5470 Montecito Street. There is a nice shaded playground, grass play area, picnic area and ramadas. Hope your little ones can come and play!

Our Consignment Sale is coming up soon! Set up is Friday, Sept 30 from 4-8 pm. The sale will take place on Saturday Oct. 1st from 7 am- 1pm. Please have everything you are selling tagged with your ID# and price. We would also love to get more sellers. Please feel free to invite friends to sell- they will need to contact Anna Marie ASAP to get ID #s and tags.

Antiquities photo sessions will take place the weekend before Thanksgiving on November 17, 18, and 19th. Our goal is for every MOPS member sell 10 tickets. It is $10 per ticket. A ticket allows the purchaser to get a professional 8 X 10 photograph of his/her child all dressed up! More info to come.
