MOPS Meeting: Dec. 12, 2011

Christmas Party Group Picture
We had a fantastic Christmas MOPS meeting! Everyone looked great in their festive holiday sweaters! Congrats to Nikki Lytle, Amanda Tompkins and Savannah Porter for being picked from their tables with the worst sweaters, and congrats to Michele Travis for winning the ugliest sweater contest! Your sweater was the worst of all :)

Thank you Pastor Harms for speaking on Keeping Jesus in Christmas. Here is the outline:
1. Bake a birthday cake for Jesus (Dont' forget the candles)
2. Read the Christmas Story (Luke 2:1-20) before opening presents
3. Collect the pieces of a nativity scene for display in your home
4. Attend a Christmas Eve Service
5. Give a gift to someone in need (Giving to someone in need is giving to Jesus, Matthew 25:1)
6. Sing/play Bible based Christmas songs in your home (Away in a Manger; Joy to the World; Silent Night, Holy Night)
7. Buy a manger scene ornament each year
8. When it's time to give the "Santa Talk"...talk about God's gift of Jesus

Thank you everyone for bring lots of delicious "Christmas favorite" dishes and drinks! We had a blast with the gift exchange and the "Name the Christmas Carol" game!

Thank you Anna Marie for all your hard work with our Antiquities fundraiser! We raised around $1,300 for our group! Awesome!

Don't forget to sign up for MOPS Spring Registration. It's $20.

Our MOPS Unplugged event is this Thursday, December 15th at 6:30 pm at Meaghan Damron's house. We will be making Christmas Card Holder Weaths. Bring some cookies to share, 14 clothes pins and a large embroidery hoop. Also please bring a hot glue gun if you have one. Hot cocoa and wrapping paper will be provided. Please respond to the Evite, and hope to see you there!

Our MOPS playdate will be at Country Club Park at 9:30 am on Monday, December 19th. Come let the kids run around and have fun!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! See you next year at our Spring Meeting on January 9th!
